ReflectionsThe Value of a Short Reflection
Some of the most meaningful thoughts don't arrive during long conversations or after reading another book.

And these beautiful flowers arrived from one of my healing clients which was a delightful gesture of appreciation.
This lady came to me at a particularly difficult time. She’d been experiencing heightened anxiety alongside concerns about changes in her memory and cognitive functioning and was undergoing a series of health assessments for possible early signs of dementia.
Understandably the assessments themselves were creating further anxiety. When she came for her first healing session one of the things I particularly wanted to help with was settling some of that heightened state and giving her mind and body an opportunity to become very relaxed.
Her session brought together guided visualisation, intuitive energy healing and quite gentle somatic work through the head, neck and body. Rather than following a predetermined sequence, I worked intuitively with what seemed to be presenting during the session, including areas of physical tension and emotional holding.
There was also a particularly moving spiritual element to the healing. A loved one in spirit came through very strongly and what followed felt centered around the heart and connected to much older emotional pain from childhood trauma. There was such a sense of love and reassurance being brought into the healing as my client had been carrying trauma for a very long time.
After the session she reported feeling notably calmer. What particularly pleased me was that when she attended her second dementia assessment later that week, she felt much more composed and focused throughout it. She also began sleeping better, which she said had made a considerable difference to how she was feeling and functioning during the day.
These are lovely changes at a time when feeling calmer, sleeping better and being able to approach her assessments with greater composure are particularly valuable to her.
She has now chosen to continue with weekly healing sessions while her medical assessments continue and I’m looking forward to seeing how the work develops alongside the professional care and assessment she is receiving.
