ReflectionsThe Value of a Short Reflection
Some of the most meaningful thoughts don't arrive during long conversations or after reading another book.
Read the storySo what does this actually mean?

When healing occurs familiar patterns can resurface, i.e. the same thoughts, emotional reactions, behaviours or even physical responses you really thought you'd moved past.
This is very common so relax, you're not doing anything wrong, because this is often misunderstood as regression but in actual fact it's a normal part of change!
Body based approaches, such as my combined craniosacral and somatic healing, work directly with how patterns are held and expressed physically, particularly through tension, your posture, breathing and habitual responses.
🌿As your body starts to rest and relax we see these physical patterns literally start to ease and your brain may revisit associated memories or behaviours. Now this isn't to repeat them, your brain is now updating how they're processed.
This process (for those who really like to know is referred to as memory reconsolidation) allows previous responses to be experienced with greater awareness and choice. Isn't that liberating?!
You may recognise the pattern play out but your response to it is no longer the same. This difference matters because it reflects your progress rather than failure.
Reappearance of patterns doesn't mean you're stuck. It often signals that a cycle is completing rather than starting again.
So what does this actually mean? Well it’s often a sign that your body and mind now have the capacity to complete what couldn’t be processed before.
Your body often knows exactly what to do when it’s finally given the chance. So yes it's OK to rest....it's an investment not an expense 🌿
